A week of traveling…

Last week was full of travels! I went to High Point, North Carolina for “Market.” This “market” is twice a year and debuts furniture, accessories, colors, etc. that will be introduced into the market within 6-9 months. I had a vision of what it would be like… but it was so much better! It is a whole entire town! 12 million, yes million, square feet of just amazing products. It was so much fun and will share the “Trends” and pictures soon!

Chris and I celebrated our 5 year anniversary! We went to Chateau Elan and then spent the day in Helen for Octoberfest. We haven’t done that since pre-Keegan. It is crazy how fast time goes… it just seems like yesterday we were heading down to the beach for the wedding.

When we got home, we had been “Boo’d,” so I thought that I would share the “Boo” that we gave out…IMG_1610

I used black glittered paper and made witch shoes, rolled orange and polka dot paper to make legs and stapled them to a green scalloped bag. Also wanted to share that Trader Joe’s has there Pumpkin Loaf mix out, it’s $2.99 and it is the BEST pumpkin bread EVER!!! So, everyone needs to go get some… yum!

First Delivery

Tuesday was the big drop off day. My dining room was completely filled with Christmas trees, ornaments, ribbons, and reindeer… it took both my car (with the seats down) and Chris’ car to get all of the stuff over! I started putting the garland up on the banisters… and that’s about it for now. I will start posting “Sneak Peeks” once I start getting things up!

Holiday Tour of Homes…

2 weeks ago I called the Woodstock Junior Service League to see how I could volunteer at the annual Holiday Tour of Homes. Well, when I called I was told that they needed 1 more designer to do a house… I was silently freaking out because everyday I tell Chris ideas I have for when I do a Holiday Tour. I hung up, screamed, called the lady back and told her I would do it. She told me that the house was the smallest on the tour… a modest 3 bedroom home. So, I when I pulled up to the house this is what I saw…IMG_1441Can you call a place with a pool house modest? Needless to say, this place isn’t 3 bedrooms! The homeowners are so nice and have tons of Christmas stuff to use. Plus, anything extra I want in the house I can sell during the tour or hope that the homeowners will love everything and just pay to keep it. The tour usually has around 3000 people go through, so it will hopefully be awesome publicity for Divine Living (DL from here on out).  If anyone has any unique Christmas ideas… pass them along or if you’re free and would like to help out…

Scott’s Antique Market

Today I dragged my dad (a.k.a. DA – “Design Assistant”) to Scott’s Antique Market. This place is INTENSE!! It is 2 HUGE buildings, you take a shuttle back and forth between the buildings if that explains how crazy this place is, and it is slammed with the most random (mostly crap) pieces of art, toys, furniture, lighting, etc. You sort of wonder who in the world buys any of this stuff… well, me! I am the proud owner of a mantle, which I plan to hang somehow in my bedroom. It needs minor sprucing up, like changing the green dental molding… and I need to figure out how to keep the lead paint from chipping off. The corbels were taken from the old Woolrich factory in Pennsylvania! I love things that have a history and tells a story! IMG_1270Dad and I on the bus… yep, this is a typical picture of him (he ALWAYS has his eyes closed)!IMG_1279The new mantle… it needs some love!

Greenhaven Green Home

I landed the BEST internship ever! I work with these 2 amazing ladies, Joann and Kelly, and they own Kandrac and Kole Interior Design. They are so laid back, fun and love design just about as much as I do. We went to the Greenhaven “Green” home, it’s a home tour in East Cobb that showcases unique ideas on how to design “Green.” The coolest thing I saw was a pair of throw pillows that had inserts made of recycled plastic coke bottles! They were $102 each, but I guess there’s a price for helping the environment! The tour is FREE, so I encourage everyone to go! I think the designers did a nice job letting people know that green doesn’t have to be ugly or completely over the top! Check out www.ecoemporium.com for the coolest green tips and products!

Magazine Debut…

Exciting News… I was recently approached to write an article in “I Do” magazine about throw pillows! The magazine will be out sometime this month, next time you’re at the grocery… browse down the magazine aisle to see if it’s there. I also wrote an article about “china” (the stuff you eat off of, not the country, mom).  I’m not sure if it will be in this issue too or the next one.
